CHICAGO, IL

One of my good friends from high school, Paige, goes to school at Columbia College in Chicago. Over the summer she worked as an RA for the college, which meant that she didn't get to come home for the summer. Not wanting to miss out on seeing her, and wanting to see the Windy City for ourselves, Kaelyn, Ambar, and I decided to take a weekend trip up to see her. It was a wonderful girls trip, and arguably my favorite visit to the city that I've had. (I was a little unimpressed with the school trip that I took way back in 8th grade.)

Street Art

Chicago, like most major cities, has its collection of murals and painted walls. I even left some artwork of my own on a table in Cheesie's after enjoying some of the best grilled cheese that I've ever had. We also proved that life imitates art in a painted doorway.

Impromptu Photo shoot

After a long day of walking around downtown, sightseeing, we stopped for a moment to rest our legs in a small sitting area next to the river. Our break quickly turned into an impromptu photo shoot.

Lollapalooza

When planning our trip to visit Paige, we had joked about coming up and going to Lollapalooza (the biggest music festival in the Midwest). Ironically, the only dates that Kaelyn, Ambar, and I were free to visit Paige happened to be the same weekend as Lolla. While we didn't end up making it to the festival, Paige's apartment was just a block from the festival, so we got to enjoy music, and some of the promotional trucks that were parked outside of the festival grounds.

City Skyline

Paige's apartment had a rooftop lounge with a gorgeous view of the city. We just had to use this as a backdrop for the group photos that we had been trying to get all week. So, we pretended to be models, and got all dressed up in Paige's apartment, just to walk up to the roof and have a photo shoot.
